Is he saving me for later?

I started liking this new guy at work about a month or 2 ago I was staring at him a lot while we were working and he stared back. I was too scared to approach him, so I just never went up to him and forgot about it. We were working closely together, and I started talking with him and he turned out to be a pretty good person to talk to. I got enough courage to ask for his Instagram and wrote it on a piece of paper. He added me that same day, but I didn’t text him right away. I waited 2 weeks to start texting him and we text now every day 24/7 he answers back quick even keeps the convo going. I asked him can we go out to eat somewhere and he said sure on the day of he said he was too tired. Then I asked him a week later if we could go somewhere and hang out at the mall. He said he already went to the mall. So I took it as he’s probably not interested in dating. So then I finally told him that I was feeling him and I wanted to take this further but it seemed like he wasn’t interested in going out. He told me that he was not ready for a relationship and that I deserved somebody way better than him. He’s looking for fun and he needs to work on himself and he even asked why out of all the guys that you know at work what makes him so different. He told me that he would like us to be close friends. At work, he always likes to be around me, watch me while I work, or help me work. Sometimes if there’s nothing going on, he will sneak over to where I’m at and stand by me. When I talk to him sometimes he gets nervous I’ll look at him and he looks away then slowly looks back again and he asks awkward questions just so we can talk even though the questions he can answer them himself. He likes asking for my help and he saw that I can cook and now he wants me to make him some food. He is always staring at me. When I’m upset about something, he listens to me go on and on about it and gives me somewhat advice but he tells me that he will always be here to listen. He’s a fuckboy also.

I decided to stay friends with him because our conversations are so good. We literally talk about everything and anything together we ask each other questions.
