I still feel ugly after getting compliments. How can I fix this?

Guys rarely ever get complimented by women. So I think it should say a lot that women do compliment me. I just got one today. She said I have looks. Two weeks ago, a woman said I was the sexiest man in the building. Why do I still feel ugly and find it hard to believe? How can I fix this, but at the same time not be conceited?

What helps me is to not focus on it too much. I'm not insanely attractive or insanely ugly. I'm somewhere in the upper middle range. Some days I look better than other days. Some days I look worse. I really not insanely insecure about my looks anymore because I truly know my placement. So if one day I wake up & I think to myself that I look funny, I simply problem solve on how I can look better. If one day I wake up & I look good, I think about why so that I may replicate it in the future, then I move on with my day & don't think about it too much.

I know what you mean. I was bullied and laughed at in school. From then on, I thought I looked shit. Lots of girls would later compliment me but by then it was so stuck in my brain that I couldn't work out if they were joking. I had girls coming up to me in clubs and complimenting me and I completely ignored them. I would be minding my own business. Not looking at anyone or talking to anyone. Girls would keep looking and I would feel victimised. Men would come up and threaten me. I thought the whole place was against me and would leave. It happened nearly every time.

You know what, I was sort of treated ugly as a kid. Maybe that's one of the root problems. In 5th grade, my crush asked me out as a dare.

This stuff gets in to your head as a kid and then affects you as an adult. I was 6.4" I looked good, I was funny, knowledge, and I was a multi instrumentalist and songwriter. Recognised all the world for my playing. I had a band perform my song to 700 million people on a cctv broadcast from a stadium. Music on an advert etc. But I had no confidence and wouldn't approach anyone. And because I'd never interacted with people growing up because of bullying and instead iscolated doing music, I had no experience. So people would tell me I was good looking but I thought either they're trying to make me feel better or they're laughing at me.

To remind yourself that you're not so horrible after all, list the qualities you appreciate about yourself and refer to them often.

Perhaps because even after getting two recent ones, you're still complaining and don't believe us, so why should we bother?
