Why is he running from me?

I like this guy in my gym.. He used to look at me from afar a lot.. We even used to exchange smiles and say hi.. He is not very regular at the gym due to his studies.. He came back after 20 days, he smiled at me and did the same.. Observing me from afar.. I tried to ignore him that day and I was also irritated so I had a frustrated look on my face.. The next day he completely ignored me didn't even smile at me.. After 2 days, I went upto him and said hi, he replied and smiled a little.. Just after that, when he went away even I was about to leave he just ran away in the other direction seeing me whereas he was very comfortably talking to my friend, he told her that he has a lot of stress due to career when she asked him that why does he hardly comes to the gym.. Why did he do so?

Hmm that is weird that he ran away from you like that. A few possibilities for what could be going on:

- He may like you and gets nervous around you. Sometimes guys act clumsy when they have a crush. Seeing your frustrated face might have thrown him off.

- He could be shy in general, especially if he's dealing with a lot of career stress too. Maybe just feels awkward making conversation.

- Possibly he thought you weren't interested since you ignored him before. So now he's backing off so it's not awkward if you don't like him.

- Or, he could be playing games trying to seem hard to get to make you chase him a little. Some guys do that.

If you like him, I'd say just smile friendly whenever you see him at gym to reassure him. Maybe even suggest headphones together sometime if he's up for it. See how he reacts before reading too much into the running away moment! He could just be a little shy. Keep me posted!

I think the first and second points could be the reason, also since he has career stress, he's trying not to get involved in anything right now. I'll go and talk to him today, I'll update you about it

You're welcome! And for sure, the career stress makes total sense too. Poor guy is probably stressed to the max. Definitely go chat with him today, that should help ease the tension for sure.

When you approach, keep it light and casual. Maybe something like "Hey man, been meaning to ask - have you tried that new workout class yet? I've heard it's pretty intense but really good for stress relief." That opens up the conversation without putting him on the spot.

And really listen if he does want to vent about school stuff - dudes don't always have someone to open up to. Who knows, talking it out might show him you're a good shoulder to lean on when he's having a rough time.

Then see if he seems more comfortable joking around after. Try slipping in a compliment about how his arms are looking pretty cut lately or something. Guys love that shyte lol. I bet after talking he'll start to relax around you. Keep me posted on how it goes! Rooting for you guys.

Because you want someone to like you does not mean that they will. I am 70 and when I catch a glance of someone they usually smile, but is does not have any secret meaning. Also, when a guy is working out he gets into a head space where the workout becomes everything.

If you see him again just ask maybe it wasn’t you. There could have been something come up. If he just ignores you then don’t waste your time on it. Just be nice and talk to him, if you’re interested just be direct.

No, not exactly that.. He was standing at a particular place, the moment I arrived and I was signing the register, and as soon as I turned back, he was nowhere to be seen
