Would I bother a sick friend if I texted to ask how he is feeling?

I invited a friend for a third meeting/date yesterday. He was on a wedding during the weekend (his cousine was getting married) but in the meantime he got to know that a person he liked and appreciated died so he was a bit sad. Additionally, he was feeling unwell, apparently he was really weak. I invited him for ice cream saying I would listen if he wanted to talk some more or we could just sit around and rest, but he declined saying he wasn't feeling well and just wanted to sleep. I'm wondering if I should at least text him to Ask how his health is or would that be too pushy?

In this case, you'd be being too pushy. Give him more towards the end of the week before messaging him at all. Even then, don't try to be more familiar then you are with him, if that makes any sense. Don't put yourself out there as someone he can talk with about the death if you didn't also know the person who died. It's a nice gesture but it's just not really a death that you have the ability to speak on, you know? If he wants to talk with you about it, he'll say something, and you should listen if he does, but I wouldn't put the idea forth.

I would give him some space... send the text the next day and say that you wanted to text but didn't want to be pushy so you waited a day but really hope he is doing okay and that you are there if he needs someone to talk to.
