Why does my ex-fling insist on being friends?

He says that he wants to maintain a friendship because we run in similar circles, but I hardly run in those circles anymore. Although I’m cordial during the rare times that we do run into each other (he admittedly shows up to events that he thinks I’ll attend) he complained that it’s still awkward and I’m not as engaging as I was before we got involved.

He complained that I blocked him (because he omitted the fact that he had a girlfriend) he keeps looking me up on LinkedIn.

I can't think of any other reason. Noone cares about sentimentalities after they have broken up.
