We slept together after speaking for months?

So I met this guy years ago at my gym and we chatted for a while. I’m talking voice message on voice message conversations with three different topics happening at a time. We then lost touch and recently started speaking again. We are both very private people and appreciated keeping chit chat to a minimum at the gym, everyone speaks about you there and we both generally like doing our own thing. Now I’m not looking for a relationship, but I haven’t had any kind of intimacy for the past 4 years and thought ok let me allow myself to have a little fun. I’m attracted to him, he’s attracted to me and he didn’t seem like a dick because we were acc talking. After we had sex once, he texted me after wards. Things were fine. And then I think I scared him by wanting to have a talk. It wasn’t anything serious I just wanted to know what he thought. But I think he thought I wanted a relationship. And one day we had an hour call. We both were with our own friends and we both had a little to drink so that call was intense. It was mostly me saying how he misunderstood me and that I didn’t sit him down to talk relationships! One thing I remember clearly is he said he likes to go with the flow, things happening naturally and too much was said already. What I really wanted is to continue what we had going. It was a Fun night and we both have many similarities and we have good convos etc. so maybe I wanted a situstionship? I knew this couldn’t be a long term thing but I did want to meet him more than just once. And I thought we weee on the same page. But ever since that call he went on holiday and whilst he was there he texted me twice and both times I replied cold. He’s now back and I’ve seen him in the gym and we just smile. He likes my stories but that’s it. I don't know where he stands.
