Guys, how comfy are you to swim in underwear around your friends?

We always see it from one perspective when it comes to swimming in underwear.

Usually girls wear bikini to swim and they are comfy to swim around their friends.

As for the guys, they always wear swimming shorts or similar outfit to swim.

Why do guys not feel comfy to swim in underwear around their friends?

What makes a guy uncomfy when it comes to swimming in underwear around his friends?

Among friends, I have no problem swimming in trunks, underwear or nothing at all.

I was at a hotel once, though, and wanted to swim in the pool. Unfortunately, I didn't have my swim trunks with me so I went into the pool with my gym shorts on. Only then did I realize that they become transparent when wet, and the ladies at the pool got a good look at my junk. I stayed under the water as long as I could until I had to get out, grab a towel and make a quick trip back to my room.

I don’t think I’d be umcomfy with good friends, male or female. Maybe as some have pointed out already, underwear is different than swimming shorts when they get wet. The fabric is thinner and can get transparent to a certain extent. Not that it would bother me too much. You’re just more comfy in swimming shorts. I think it’s the same for girls in a bikini.

Me and swimming have a bad relationship. I have never felt comfortable in my own skin, and to be honest, I'd probably wear a shirt and swimming trunks until the moment I'm supposed to hop into the pool.

As for women's choices, I'm really sorry you don't have a similar body-hiding option. I could never have that sort of confidence. I would feel practically naked.

In fact, it bothered me so much when I was thirteen that when my grandpa took me to a water park, I stared at the ground in embarrassment for three hours and didn't do anything fun because I was afraid to even look up lest I'd be thought of as a pervert.

These days, I don't really think like that, of course... and honestly that's not even the only time something like that has happened. I'd just prefer to swim in relative solitude with maybe a lifeguard (trained or untrained) nearby. Generally family.

Depends what I'm wearing and what I'm jumping into. Most of my boxers are silk or bamboo. The bamboo are sturdy... I would and have swam in them. About 5 or 6 weeks ago, actually. I wouldn't want to wear silk in a swimming pool. The chlorine would harm the fabric in a pool. Open body of water, maybe.

I would never do that at my age. I'm married and surrounded by married people. Hella disrespectful. When I was a kid, or even college aged, I'd do it because I didn't even think about the appropriateness of it.

I'm good either way, I've swam with friends, family, and even people I don't know in my underwear. Not really that different than swim suit...

I mean basically underwear is a swimsuit so it really doesn't matter depending on the underwear it might show the outline a lot more but it's just like a bathing suit really

Depends on the friend. Some I'll go swimming with completely nude, some in underwear, some in trunks or a Speedo.

Some fabrics that men's underwear is made of like cotton will absorb up the water. That can make them heavy so they slide off and also kind of see-through, especially if they are white.

I think it's because men's swimsuits that look like underwear (swim briefs) are really disliked by women except in Europe.

Underwear is not designed to provide concealment of your bits when wet. If my genitals are going to be visible anyway, and I'm among friends, I'd just swim naked.

I wore my underwear at a pool party once. When I got up out of the pool, my underwear got dragged off. Bathing suits are just tighter
