hanging out with guy friend.. he was saying the way I tell stories is adorable and that he thinks it’s adorable then said I’m like a golden retriever.. do guys say stuff like this.. or is there a chance he likes me slightly more than a friend?

Aw sis, I don't think you're overthinking this at all. When a dude uses the word "adorable" to describe a girl, there's usually more to it than just being friends.

I mean yeah, he could think you're cute in a friendly way. But saying your personality is adorable and comparing you to a golden retriever? That's flirty vibes for sure. Golden retrievers are like the cutest, most loveable dogs ever.

I'd bet money he's lowkey into you. Guys don't say stuff like that unless they actually like a girl on another level, even if it's just starting to develop.

Next time you're together, pay close attention to how he acts around you - does he find excuses to touch your arm when he talks? Hold eye contact for longer than friends? That kinda thing will tell you what you need to know.
