Do guys put down your looks when they secretly want you and are very impressed by you?

They definitely do this, and it's a red flag and a reflection of their own insecurity. Some of them even do this online without even knowing what you look like. This is sometimes called "negging" and is an attempt to try to lower your confidence, which is NOT working. Why would anyone be interested in someone who insults them?

I see a lot of these questions, all roughly, "He's mean to me, does he like me?" Maybe if he's 6 years old. If he's old than that, probably not, he's just an asshole. If I'm wrong, who cares he can learn to do better or do without you.

He stares at me at times like he sees a gem inside me. He’s complimented my looks but also puts down little things about my looks which is hurtful to me.

I think we kinda did at work once. He doesn’t open up about enough of his life or thoughts to me but he will ask some things about my interests or whatnot. I know it’s a lot to ask a man to open up thoguh.

It can be for some guys (like letting themselves be emotionally vulnerable) but I've found it can be easier in a more casual setting, like just chatting over a casual bite/drink. Like if you're able to move a conversation on from just work-related stuff, like things you're both into... like if a guy gets to know you well enough it could be easier for him to trust you with his feelings

Right, it's awesome when you can share a deep emotional connection like that. Guys have to learn to take some risks with their feelings to find happiness through sharing with someone special. It's easier for a guy cause it's flattering to him when a girl shows interest in getting to know him better personally... most guys will want to share things about themselves too

Yeah, we were friends and we got close but in the end I got hurt. That's life but it was tough moving on. I'm glad we're still friends (though long distance).

No that doesn't make any sense no guy thats interested will insult your looks that means they aren't interested. They might tease you about other things but playfully not rudely.
