Why is he talkative one day and ignore me the next?

I have this younger male coworker who is confusing. One day he will be super talkative to me and will go out of his way to find me and the next, he will ignore me. Since I work in a different dept now, he has been coming to my work area randomly. Just the other day he said that he missed working with me, especially when it was just us on the late shift. I said I missed that too. He even stayed after his shift to talk to me. The next day he came to my work area multiple times, stood near me and looked at me but ignored me. I said hi to him and tried talking to him but it was like I didn't exist. On my lunch break there was another male coworker and I in the break room. He greeted the male coworker but his eyes were on me. I smiled at him as he walked by and he just had a blank expression. I was busy working after lunch and felt like I was being stared at. When I looked up, I saw him staring at me from a distance. He's not a shy guy. I don't know what is his deal lately. I've been noticing this sudden pattern of him being talkative one day and ignoring me the next.

Your guess is as good as mine and there are a lot of guesses. Perhaps he has some sort of personality disorder where he fluctuates in moods. That is just one possibility. Maybe he has good and bad days. Perhaps something is going on in his personal life that makes him happy one day and not the next. We all have those days and maybe he just has them more often. I am just going to say one thing and that is I get the vibe that you want this guy to like you. That is what I am feeling from your context in this post. Don't date coworkers. It never ends up the way that you want it to. Now if that isn't your intention then good but I just wanted to put that one out there.
