To answer your direct question the shame comes down on girls because before birth control having sex with multiple guys was very risky and sex workers were mostly the only ones doing this in the open. So they were shamed for acting like prostitutes in the hopes they stopped the behavior and didn’t end up pregnant.

2. As it is today in 2024, birth control is available (here in the USA) so the double standard is irrelevant. Guys and girls both are shamed for that behavior and year over year it’s becoming more normalized and less shameful.
