Small town Murder mystery theories?

So my cousin lives on the East cost and In her town a boy she went to school with recently killed stabbed his father to death. He then fled in his mothers car flipping it in the woods. Apparently he’s been missing for weeks and no one has any leads. Her and I have been coming up with theories on where he could have gone, it’s pretty cold right now where she lives. Anyone have any theories?
