Why do some guys act distant after things seem to be going great?

A lot of people women men, get scared if you were dating women you would find that they do the same thing.

Some people have a pathological level of difficulty in getting close to people. they may have a very strong desire for companionship, but getting close is terrifying and this can be for many different factors & different to every person that it impacts.. it really does depend on the person.

…The tenancy in popular terms usually gets referred to as an “anxious-avoidant”. I think the term avoidant attachment style is ridiculous because if a person is really avoiding. They wouldn’t even move towards a relationship in the first place so I don’t bother using it. in my opinion if merely The definition of something already requires manipulation of reason then anything under her umbrella is gonna be bs.

Very many people just get a little bit nervous in the beginning bc three s lot at stake with a new person…and then they sort it out and adjust and they’re OK.

Others can just be that their feelings change and they realize they don’t really wanna get involved.

I think for a lot of of people this tendency can be avoided by not chipping into relationships and taking a long time to get to know someone first. Not at all strange to get cold feet up about something that you’re not even comfortable within the first place.

I think it maybe because there are 2 conflicting psychological dynamics in opposition to each other. One is the need for companionship, love and sex. The other is the hesitancy to get entangled in a serious relationship.

In my opinion guys who are more mature will decide to go with #1.

It could be that the person in question is waiting for then other shoe to drop, as they could have been in a previous relationship where everything ‘seem to be going great’ until it didn’t, and now they are waiting to see how things work themselves out.

A few possibilities:

• Maybe they're going great for you, but not for them?
• They were playing you.
• They get freaked out when the feel themselves catching real feelings. Something that started off as fun and casual is feeling more real. People from damaged backgrounds can run from this feeling because they're not psychologically mature enough to process their feelings.

I don’t think this is unique to men. This is one of those behaviors that exist in both men and women. I have known plenty of women who have done the same for various reasons or for no reason at all.

I think this would have to be a case by case thing, different reasons for different guys.

Sometimes you get into a relationship and you realize that you got in too deep too fast and you feel like you're losing your freedom. So you back off and then they get confused.
