Why guys remember?

I have a crush on my guy friend. I don't know if he does too. Anyways he has been on a vacation for 3 weeks visiting his family in the Philippines. We haven't texted the last week bc I'm not trying to be annoying while he's with family.

Today is my bday and he sent me a "happy birthday" text. He doesn't have any social media to be able to be reminded its my bday. I did tell him a few weeks before he left on his trip, that my bday was the the 21st. I am somewhat shocked he even remembered on his own.

Am I looking into this too much? Any thoughts?

Why shouldn’t he remember this date when you two and pretty good friends so far who speak often? Wouldn’t it be rude for him to not have acknowledged your bday, come back from his trip and try talking as if nothing is wrong? I’d feel like a butthole for forgetting my friends bday, I think anyone would. You only add the significance because you like him, and I’m not saying he doesn’t like you back but this isn’t the thing to gauge that off of.

I assume he cares for you and why he remembered and wished you a happy birthday. I think it's a good sign if you are hoping for something serious with him.
