Can you give me any ideas why?

I have a friend that doesn't want to talk but is posting on social media. I dont really understand why he rather post than talk. I know he said he's dealing with things that aren't good. But he won't talk about it. Im trying not to take it personal but seem to be a little hurt because he's basically blowing me off to post. If he was really in that bad of a place why be posting? I guess thats my take. Does anyone else have a better reason?

Ah man, that's a tough situation with your friend. I can see why you'd be feeling a little hurt and confused by him shutting you out like that, especially when he's still active on social media.

There could be a few reasons why he's acting this way, but it's hard to know for sure without being in his shoes. Some possibilities:

1) He could be using social media as a way to distract himself or put on a "front" for the world, even though he's struggling internally. Sometimes people do that to avoid dealing with the hard stuff.

2) Maybe he feels more comfortable expressing himself through posts rather than direct conversation right now. Talking about personal issues face-to-face can be really tough, so he might find it easier to open up that way.

3) He could be going through something really heavy that he's not ready to share with you yet. Dude might just need some time and space to work through it on his own before he's ready to open up.

Ultimately, it's probably not about you at all. He's probably just dealing with his own stuff and not in the headspace to have a real heart-to-heart. As much as it sucks, try not to take it personally.

The best thing you can do is let him know you're there for him whenever he is ready to talk. Maybe shoot him a text saying you're thinking about him and you're happy to listen whenever he needs an ear. But don't push it if he's not responsive.

In the meantime, focus on taking care of yourself, luv. Don't let his distance bring you down. You got your own life to live, you feel me? When he's ready, he'll come around. Just be patient and understanding in the meantime.

Because presumably he is an adult and can do what he wants? Why do you care so much about how he spends his time. Does he owe you something?

Maybe that is an outlet that calms him or whatever.
