Can you have a somewhat weird situationship with a woman for 9 years and not have feelings? does he love me or just say he can go back to his bm?

We’ve been seeing each other since highschool but never made anything official because as much as I don’t want to admit this, I was very emotionally unavailable and he always found a girlfriend. He has 2 baby mommas but I was very careful about our sex life. We were young and it seemed fine but now we’re both 27 and still texting 5 days a week when he’s not with the baby momma who went and took her iud out and told him it was still safe. Basically she baby trapped him still we make a lot of time for each other sometimes seeing each other upwards of 3 times a week in between work and his fatherly duties. It feels like I’m more than the side chick. He says he loves me and we have a great relationship as well. We don’t fight and we’re honest when something is bothering us. We don’t leave topics out of our conversations that could cause fights either. We just talk through things well and dont hide our feelings. However He didn’t have a dad growing up so I think it’s dim for me to assume that he’ll leave her. Am I just a long time affair? Is there a possibility that Im something more and he’s just not gunna ever be available for me because I took to long to realize it?
