I liked this guy for a few months but he chose to date another girl over me in just as little as a week. He knew that I liked him but was always unsure about what he wanted with me. After choosing her, he still chat with me as if nothing happened. I pretend to be busy and not talk to him as much before and he doesn't like it. He even texted me "stop being so sad lol."

Probably because you’re acting like a child. If you no longer want to contact him tell him to stop talking to you… That’s fine.

It’s good that you’re not wasting your time on him obviously he is happier witn someone else. You need to find someone whose a better fit for you. I’m sure there are people that liked you that you weren’t as big of a fan of.

Is it petty? I don't know, you got rejected and that hurts. I think you have a right to feel your feelings about it and back off if you want to. You don't have a right to key his car or burn down his house, but you can surely not talk to him until you get over it.

I mean how sure are you that he knew you liked him? If your story is true, it's not unfair of how you're treating him... sounds like amber he was distracted or unsure about you
