Recently I met up with a friend and hung out for about a week. I initiated the hugs and touches at first but subsequently he was also very open to touching me. I do like him so I initiate most of the physical contact. He also initiated some of these later on.

Handholding, full body tight hugs (when we meet and say goodbye), having his arms around me when we're out, me holding his arms, laying on his arms and chest when we're watching movies at home. He never pushed me away or flinched etc.

Once he joking said that i was making his arm to go sleep so I sat up and moved about 30cm away. Minutes later, he said i can lay on his arm/chest again if I really want.

I am VERY confused. I was pretty close to his face on one occasion when I casually asked if I could kiss him, he said no. But after that, he was okay with me giving him a kiss on the cheeks. Please help, I am confused AF.

You are in the age group 36-45, right? Because, to be quite honest, this question is more the one of a teenager aged 14-16 rather than from a middle aged woman.

Why are you confused? He is playing with you and he has feelings for you as well, not just you. He is teasing you but I think that you know that.

This would be the typical behavior of a person that does not dare to show his/her feeling, just like you and that boy.

He is taking things slowly and so should you. No need to hurry things.

He obviously likes you. Why he said no to a kiss is a mystery. I think you should ask again. If he says no again, ask him why he doesn't want you to kiss his lips.
