My landlord is texting me, am I overthinking it?

I recently moved in with my mom to her apartment. My parents went through a divorce, and I broke my shoulder and pelvis. I've been recovering at her place, also being a roommate in a way. My mom and I are best friends!

When I first moved in a year ago, the landlord told me nothing and we'd have issues with plumbing or electric, and my mom who works and me disabled - not (permanently) she'd ask me to handle any of the landlord things - in 2024 he specially told me it does not concern me as my name isn't on the lease. NOTHING CONCERNS ME? leaks, or any issue, does not concern me. ANYWAY.

Recently I've been getting late night text messages from him, he is 42 I am 28 , and he is asking me to pay the rent which makes no sense cause we have an ACH authorization from my mom, he can just take the rent. Then he's been giving my mom issues about our smoke detectors and paying for them, but randomly paid the whole bill last week. Now he sent me a text tonight saying its so hard what im going through and he's praying for me, and that he's so sorry for me, and all the stuff im going though. what is he talking about? Says to me he hopes things get back to normal for me, now I never shared with him my life nor did my mom. I am wondering if he has been on my social media... any thoughts? He also removed my mom off of our group email for repairs and just started addressing me and ME only.
