Is my landlord is spying on me, how do I handle this?

I had a weird feeling about my landlord about a month after moving in I’ve been here barely two months and I’m actively getting moved out.
I decided to try and see if there was any working cameras in the home that she insisted there wasn’t.
The red flag for me was when I said I didn’t know why she left the camera in the living room I would like it taken down as I will not be interested in getting its subscription and she seemed really irritated.
I unscrewed it myself ! But there must be another one? And does this mean it is working? Or is it detecting the one I took down.
I really don’t know technology terms well so anything anyone knows I would really appreciate the insight.

I found a camera that was hidden. Thank you for everyone’s input. I’m now seeking legal help by a trusted family attorney.

I don't know how some people are concluding that your landlord is spying on you. (Unless they assume all landlords are? …and, maybe, they all do?) Those screenshots tell us nothing.

What software are you using? What means is it using to detect a camera? Is it “free?”

If the app is scanning your network (it looks like it is pinging devices), it might be hard to tell what it is detecting—or where it is. (It might be a camera pointed at the driveway, for instance; or a networked smoke detector or thermostat) It should give you a device name, or a MAC address, or something to go on.

If it is using your phone’s CCD to detect camera lenses, it should be able to point you to the camera so you can find it and assess what it is. (It might flag your laptop’s camera, or an IR LED on a remote control —or a hidden camera.)

If the app lets you scan for free and then tries to sell you a service, then it may just be giving you a vague alert to get some money from you.

You need to know more than you are showing us. You can’t call the police or consult lawyer and show them a red box that says “spy camera found.”

It's against the law for your landlord or anyone to have hidden cameras in your residence, even if you're just renting. If I were you I would see if I could get a hold of a public prosecutor and see if they'll answer your question about having a camera in your apartment

I'm not sure what that means. What software are you using to detect if there are devices? How accurate is it at picking up hidden devices?

I'm not sure what country you reside it, but that should not be legal to have recording devices (camera or otherwise) in a home/apartment that you are renting. I am guessing that there are laws against that.

If you do find one, I would contact the authorities. Unless you had agreed to this in the contract (which likely is also illegal) then your landlord has no right to have a hidden camera in your place.

That is an invasion of privacy. Again, I would contact the authorities if you suspect there is a device or if you actually find one.

I am for sure. I had given no permission and actually was quite straightforward about not wanting any kind of security cameras

If you are sure there is some sort of hidden device, I would absolutely contact either an attorney or the police. That has to be illegal. Especially so when you did not give any sort of permission. I have to imagine even if you did sign something that had mention of that, it is still illegal.

I would be furious and also paranoid if I suspected something like that. I cannot blame you for being upset.

I don’t think she is spying on you for sexual reasons, I think she wants evidence she can use against you if you sell drugs or vandalize her property and she wants to kick you out.

I don't know what state you live in but in mine that could get this landlord in serious trouble. Would have to be more connection to her but most investigators can figure that out.

your landlord is spying on you. i got the same situation happening with me mine's been stalking me for months now looking through my windows walking around outside my apartment using excuses like mowing the lawn to stalk and spy. it got to the point i had to install security cameras and security alarms in my place and even picked up a baseball bat ready to smash the bastards head a few weeks ago

Yea that's odd. My landlord did not place security cameras in my apartment. In fact that's an invasion of privacy

Another reason why you need to contact an attorney is there may be a way for you to break your lease since this is why you're moving out

Yes that is what I was hoping for because It’s costing me a lot to also move into an airnb until my new place is ready
And more than anything I don’t know what she now has of me in the privacy of my home and what she’s been potentially doing with that which makes my skin crawl

attorneys aren't always honest. they'll tell you they can deliver the world to you even while knowing that they can only do very little for you. its always about the money
