Is this the only increase in the last 12 months? Is it less or equal to 2.5%?
If so, probably they can. If not, its questionable but may still be legal.
Its never fun having to fight with a landlord as its hardly ever a fair one. You should have some sort of tenant union I hope?
Increase of $70 yes only increase I like a year I don’t want to fight I have no problem I’m just wonder about time frame of notice as it states as of September 2023 increase of new rent
Raising rent yes...
but i would expect at least a month notice before it takes effect.
Something like, "hey rent is up, effective today, lol."
But i don't live in the US, so i am not sure.
Our rent just went up by $80 a month. It seems they can do whatever they want.
