Does the landlord need to be there for repairs and such?

I had an issue with the ac at my rental, so I told the tenant I'd have the ac guy call her and setup a time to come out that was convenenient for her and I'd pay for the service call. Is this okay? I mean she's the one living there and I'd imagine they don't want the owner there is he doesn't need to be. Like if the place is a mess etc. Or am I supposed to show up and wait for the ac guy? Anyways, so the ac company called and the tenant never answered the phone. They're the ones living there, why not just schedule a repair man on a day they're already going to be there anyways?

So people will just let the landlord in anytime they need to have a repairman show up even if they're not home? I'd think not, which is why I just let the tenant schedule the technician.
