Is it normal if a landlord comes everyday to check things out if you’re renting from therm?

We just rented a house from a couple landlords. But ever since moving in they come every day to look at things. He looks at the thermostat, tells us empty boxes have to be discarded in trash even if we have them on the back porch and plan to use them, and he even walked in on my mom putting her makeup on the other day. They literally come over unannounced.

Corrugated Cardboard is great roach food. IF you don't have plastic totes to put your good into you need to have them treated with insecticide. On that note I agree with your landlords. However, they need to give you an advanced notice that they are coming over. Ask them to knock 100 dollars off the rent every time they disrupt a family activity. You do have a right to your privacy. In the business world the only thing that promtps consideration is Loss. Get their attention

That's not normal. Most landlords occasionally check but not everyday. Since you are new renters, he might be over-protective and check every day, until he's convinced you are good tenants and won't destroy the place.

They might have had experiences from previous tenants who did or sold drugs. But be careful with your mother, walking in on a female tenant without warning might be considered predatory in purpose.

In most states in the USA they have to give a 24 hour notice before they are allowed to enter you can call the cops on them

Check the renter’s rights in your state and compare that to your rental contract
