My boyfriend (24M) and I (20F) have been together for almost 4 months. I’m his first girlfriend ( I’m African) and first sexual partner. We live in a country that’s about 98% homogeneous. He’s incredibly sweet, patient, and thoughtful—if I bring up a need, he always tries to meet it. We spend weekends and some weekdays at his place, and he’s openly affectionate in public. We go out a lot etc.
But when it comes to his apartment, things feel… off. His mom owns his place and sometimes comes over when he’s not home. Recently, his mom organized a cleaner to come early in the morning, and he told me I needed to leave either that night or next morning before 8 , initially he’d thought shed come midday & I would’ve stayed till morning - anyways, seeing as I was disappointed, he rescheduled it to a later hour so I could stay the night.
He also doesn’t seem to mind most neighbors knowing about me—his elderly neighbour ,2 days from his even calls me his wife lol—but one time, we saw his next-door neighbor walking in, and he made us take a longer route to avoid running into her. We still ended up in the elevator together, but the fact that he actively avoided her stuck with me.
My race doesn’t seem to bother him—he encourages me to wear my natural hair, loves washing it and always treats me well—but I can’t help but wonder if race is why he’s being so careful.
He’s never been in a relationship before, so I don’t know if this is just inexperience or if I should be concerned. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Maybe its not about race but maybe he just hasn't told his mom he has a girlfriend and he fears the neighbour will spill the beans. Since his mom also just comes over even when he isn't around, might show already that she still plays a huge part in his life and eather she or him has trouble letting go.
Sounds like you are overthinking a bit, if people know about you and he is happy being with you in public as well as treats you good I don't see what is wrong
i assume your boyfriend was the one who asked you out and courted you
