Ok I'm asking this on behalf of my little sister who is in 8th grade. I already told her what I think:

I brought cookies for everyone after band practice. Everybody came and got one but not my crush. He will talk to my cousin but not me. Sometimes I wonder if he is looking at me and not something or someone else. Im so confused on how to tell if a guy likes me.

Aw man, that totally sucks that your crush ignored you when you brought cookies for everyone. I can see why your little sister would be feeling so confused and bummed out about that.

The way he'll talk to your cousin but not you is definitely a red flag. It makes it seem like he's purposefully avoiding interacting with her, which is super weird.

And the fact that he might be looking at her but not directly at her? That's even more puzzling. It's like he's trying to be sneaky about it or something.

Honestly, the whole situation just sounds super frustrating. It's hard enough trying to figure out if a guy likes you, especially at that age. And when they're acting all weird and ignoring you like that, it just makes things even more confusing.

My advice would be for your sister to try not to overthink it too much. High school crushes can be really complicated and immature sometimes. The best thing she can do is focus on her other friends and interests, and not stress too much about this one guy.

If he continues to act shady and ignore her, it might be best for her to just move on. Ain't nobody got time for that kind of drama, you know? She deserves someone who's gonna give her attention and make her feel special.

I know it's tough, but tell your sis to keep her head up. There are plenty of other fish in the sea, and she's gonna find someone awesome who really appreciates her. In the meantime, just be there for her and remind her how awesome she is. That's the best support you can give.

You're at a confusing time where hormones are clouding your brain. Not much you can do about it.

However, you can talk to your crush about band, can't you? See how he responds. Remember, he's the same age as you are and those hormones are clouding his brain too! He doesn't know what he's doing either.

He might like you AND your cousin and is too goofy to make up his mind. It's just as hard for a guy to tell who he likes the most.

Ask him to go bike riding with you, or to practice some band riffs after everyone else has moved out of the band room, or to come over to your house after school and practice.

If you get no response from a few invitations, maybe he's not the crush you need to invest in. But good luck. Soon enough, you'll be able to figure out who likes you, just as they will. It's early in the game right now.

Get outdoors, get some exercise and blow off some steam with your gal pals. Stay busy, do your homwwork, help around the house and take care of yourself. Life is a long ride. You've got to enjoy it!
