Why did he ignore me like this?

Me and my guy friend let's call him Bobby, have started seeing each other for two weeks now. No one in our friend group knows yet because we are taking things slow.

Two days ago we were out with our friend group, everything was going good until a couple that we've never hung out with before came to join us.

Suddenly Bobby, put all his attention on the couple and at some point I felt he started to ignore me on purpose. We spoke for a little bit, but he mainly directed the conversation to the couple. Tbh it felt like he had his back to me the whole time and barely looked at me, afterwards we all went dancing he barely looked at me again and just talked to the couple and made sure they were having fun in fact it felt like he wanted to forget that I was there.

He always walks me back home at the end of the night, but this time when we left the club he kept talking to the couple while standing outside and when I said I'm walking back home now (a friend was going to walk with me because their apartment is in the same direction) Bobby's face turned red and he said "Oh you're going home?" and I said "Yes" and I just left. He hasn't texted me and it's just super weird situation for me.

I think he was trying to prove yiu two are friends and nothing going…to protect you two “moving slow”. He could have done that much better by letting you lead in that dynamic and him simply listening.
Maybe he was trying to avoid rumors…
