My guy friend [17] and I have been growing close. We met online on Roblox like three years ago. We didn't talk much since I was just my shy self but this year, I just started working on myself, trying to get out of my comfort zone.

I started talking to him more and so has he. And I think I have a crush on him but I don't don't want to ruin our friendship.

But he usually mentions his ex girlfriend or some random girls from his school, that they want him. It's like 4 times he been saying stuff like this. I just feel a little doubt and awkward when he does. Today, he messaged me that he broke up with his girlfriend-now ex. Is he trying to tell me that he's single or am i going crazy and reading into too much?

I want to test the waters since I feel like he's doing it to me 😂

Some other signs, shortened:

1. He brings his cousins and few irl (his) male friends to meet me

2. He gets quiet when it's just me and him

3. His other friend teased him because he play with me a lot ([17m] told me that)

4. He brings me gifts and text me good night or morning

5. he's the first to initiate conversation

6. On the game, he stands close to me 7/10 of the time

Also, we rarely flirt since we both suck at it lol and I'll never initiate any, ever. Thanks in advance for replying your thoughts and advices.

You could be right, best way to test him is to see how he talks about other guys you know, if he ever gets uncomfortable or jealous or anything like that then it’s a big sign, if you mention a guy you like or used to know, how aggressive your friend is in belittling them or trying to create justification for why you shouldn’t have anything with that guy is your confirmation.


As for him signalling he’s single and talking about girls wanting him, he’s just comfortable saying that to you and is probably looking for some reassurance from you about how he is a wanted man, remember he’s only 17 he’s still building perceptions of self worth.

Yes is into you. He's shy and inexperienced. He talks about his ex and other girls because he doesn't want to seem like a loser. The ex and other girls may or may not exist, (don't press, it isn't important). If you want to give it a try, make a move. He's a guy, and as I say inexperienced, so you're going to have to be pretty direct. Something like, "Hey, I like you, want to go out?" My guess is he'll think he hit the lottery.

I assume that they don't exist since he never made me meet up with his exes. If he's truly single, I might take an opportunity to ask him out, but if he did broke with his ex.
