Why will guys throw their friends under the bus for a crumb of women affection?

This is something I've noticed lately, guys will meet some e-girl online, start dm'ing and get super swept up in the woman and start venting to her, etc. and then will betray his friends for her. I don't understand the psychology of simping and why it affects men so detrimentally. I am asking as a woman, what makes talking to a woman so special that it makes men go against their entire moral code or ditch his friends over them? I truly don't get it. Half of the time they get nothing in return from the women they simp over as well.
