Do you feel you ever been "Mansplained?"?

I here some of my friends say that they have been "Mansplained" to. I could be wrong but I don't think this is actually done by most men as a condescending act to most women. I think some women may do this to other women and some men might do this to other men. I suppose that women can do this to men. Sometimes, I think people don't realize the breath and depth of knowledge that an individual has and they want to make sure they understand. Yes. It may come across as condescending and patronizing, but I don't think that most of the time it is intended that way. I for one think this may be an overused word. What do you think?

I’ve never heard a girl personally say that. I’ve heard a lot of it online by women though that men supposedly mansplained things to them in a condescending way. Oh wait one incident online w a girl I used to work w who’s a PA actually ranted about this at her job. Some dude mansplaining something to her. She took offense to it. But honestly when I worked w her because she was a PA she always thought she knew everything. I think a lot of those women just hate men, so whatever they can say to make men look even worse they will by coming up w new terms. The man was probably right in some situations too which she didn’t like so that was her way of trying to get back at him. Also men usually talk direct to each other. We usually don’t say things thinking of other men’s emotions, especially if it’s the truth. So when you do that w a female a lot of times she may get her feelings hurt so she accuses him of being condescending to her, mansplaining.

Well I do my best not too. I try to listen actively first. But if I do it honestly because I get excited about the topic and jump in too quickly... there is no malice towards women. Hell I interrupt my male friends too often too. Its a trait I am working on.

Sometimes mansplainig is necessary. I have asked guys to mansplain things to me before. I believe that it's perfectly harmless.

I think you need to ask yourself, what is this person's intentions? If they seem to have good intentions, then maybe just listen to it, and don't make a big deal out of it. If over time it becomes annoying, then try to kindly explain to the person why it bothers you. Slapping a label on it, doesn't do much good in my opinion.

I've explained the cause of the aurora to my wife every time we see it which has been dozens and still she doesn't get it so probably mansplaining isn't the thing it's girlearning that needs to be practiced
