Is he just being friendly or is there something more teacher?

He’s the only male teacher working at the kindergarten. I'm currently studying and I recently started working at this kindergarten, which is really close to my school — so it’s easy for me to go back and forth.

When I first started working there, I noticed he was looking at me, but we never really talked or had any interaction. Then one day, because my teacher was sick, he came into my classroom. At first, he just said good morning and stuff. Then he asked where I was from.

Later on, he brought an activity for the kids — we were going to make baskets. He asked me, “What was your name again?” I told him, and after that he stopped being formal and started calling me by my first name.

While he was asking the kids about summer fruits, he suddenly said something like, “Let’s ask your teacher,” referring to me, and added, “I say melon,” talking about himself. Then while we were cutting the baskets, he jokingly said, “Are you thinking to yourself, ‘Where did this teacher come from and why is he in my class?’” And I said, “No, teacher, I always do this kind of stuff.”

He started telling me personal stuff — like how he got assigned there, about his roommate, his sibling, and so on. Then he started asking me questions, and we ended up talking a lot.

Later, during lunch, I was eating with a friend and he came over and suddenly called me by my name (which caught me a bit off guard) and asked me to pass him a cup. Then we went back to the classroom and he asked if I could play guitar.

Outside, he was playing guitar with a bunch of the women teachers. I was playing ball with the kids — he joined us for a little bit but then just sat down.

ı honestly have no idea what this guy is trying to do or what his intentions are.

Male teachers in such a hugely female dominated environment HAVE to make sure they make positive connections with ALL the women in their sphere of operations otherwise they're asking for trouble. The risk of any gossip and suggestive talk can very easily snowball within women's conversation groups to cause a lot of trouble to a man here.
Don't take his interactions as anything other than professional and treat him with kindness and professionalism.

When with students male teachers have to be extra careful when female adults are around as kids will often seek to find or make up some kind of romantic attachment between the adults around them as this is often their normal experience of adult males and females. Therefore if he shows the professional side of treating you like another member of the educational aspect of classroom activities then he's possibly trying to keep them from jumping to conclusions about something going on between you and avoid potential claims against him.
