This happens with women too. Some people count cards at a casino. I count the drinks of the women around me. There is one married woman in particular who gets extremely huggy and touchy after 3 glasses of wine. I'm talking like a dozen hugs for some pretty obscure reasons and hands on my arms and chest. Another one gets downright raunchy after about 3 drinks. Another one thinks it's funny to come up behind me and put her arms around my chest while absolutely smashing her tits into my back. She thinks it's funny because I don't like her doing that. Yeah, there's nothing classier than having a moderately drunk woman groping me from behind unexpectedly in public when I'm having a conversation with someone else. So when these women hit whatever their drink limit happens to be, I'm either positioning myself where they can't get to me or, I'm outta there for the next place. It's maybe funny once or twice. It gets old fast.

There are still great, many and varied negative consequences for men who express any emotion besides anger and desire. Even those get us in trouble more often than not now. Being under the influence of mind altering substances gives us an excuse to be human for a change; to actually express more of the things that we think and feel.
When those expressions cause offense, there is more forgiveness for a man who has done the unthinkable, if he was obviously altered chemically or some other way.

I knew a woman whose ex had been in a bad car accident. He received a pretty nasty injury to his head and brain. It altered the way he interacted with people; nearly completely incapable of reigning in his emotions. She took me to meet him. No joke, i saw no behavior uncommon to the average, healthy, able bodied woman of sound mind. But as a man, they diagnosed him with TBI. Ell oh ell!

Same reason girls do it. Companionship and security... that sense of the other person being an element of your "safe space". I was walking with one of my guy friends the other day and we ended up walking v close, arm in arm, leaning in to whisper conspiratorially about the people and things around us till we got in the train (rather than driving, since we were both a bit tipsy), where we sat in the identical "legs crossed" position in such a way that they fit together like pieces of a puzzle; our arms were still intertwined, our heads leaning against each other...

We are *AT BEST* like brother and sister and always have been. It's just really nice to have someone you know isn't going to get the wrong idea when you're tipsy and trying to feel the warmth and comfort of a person you trust as one of your own.

When you drink, the first thing you lose are your inhibitions, followed very quickly by your good judgement. This means that people who are too shy or not self-confident enough to try to get physically close with someone suddenly aren't bothered by shyness or lack of self-confidence (they call it "liquid courage" for a reason).

People who are drunk tend to have their inner selves turned up to 90. The mean ones get super mean, the outgoing ones get super-outgoing, the quietly horny ones get a lot more obvious about being horny, and the shy ones who secretly want closeness stop being so shy about it.

Alcohol breaks down inhibitions. Makes it harder to maintain the stoic mask. Emotions one wouldn't normally express come out, hence the old Latin expression "En vino veritas" (in wine there is truth), or as James McMurtry puts it, "Whiskey don't make liars, it just makes fools" This also brings up the point that alcohol also dulls restraint, makes it less likely he'll be aware of or concerned with consent. Drunk, horny guys can be dangerous, handle with care.

Can't speak on this because I never get drunk, in fact I hardly drink alcohol at all anymore. But I would imagine guys getting cuddly would just be another factor of the alcohol giving them a warm, comfortable feeling where they start being all touchy feely. Girls do the same thing when they're drunk too, they start touching you or falling all on you. I can definitely say I've experienced that.

Alcohol has always caused guys to become more amorous. It’s obviously more noticeable the more standoffish or shy a guy is naturally when sober. Let’s be honest though it’s not just guys is it !!

Personally I love hugs but they scream friendzone and given so freely. My hugs less so !
