What was the nicest thing a stranger has done for you?

About a year ago, I had to get gas after work. Since I was short on money at the time, I could only get a small amount. Anyway, as I told the gas station attendant how much, a guy behind me spoke up and said he would put five dollars more towards what I had. I thanked him graciously and went to pump my gas.

Hmm there's a lot of nice stories I have about nice strangers. I have a good amount of examples because I actually talk to strangers, make eye contact, share pleasantries, without making it weird. When you physically participate socially when out and about, you'll find nice people.

Part of doing this, I've learned how to recognize when person doesn't want to talk. Many people today are so antisocial it's upsetting to me lol. Ok but that's not your question.

I'll share a recent example. About a a month ago I was traveling for work in a rural town in Idaho, and when they found out I was a nice New Yorker, (assumed we're all assholes... unfortunately we have a lot lol), asked me some questions about the city, politics, thoughts, and we had a really nice discussion. He wanted to know one person's perspective of New York politics coming from a conservative background.

He was astounded to find out how different upstate NY vs downstate, vs City, vs Long Island lol.

We weren't debating politics, which was nice, and I got to understand him and his conservative background. At the end of the conversation he said something that really hit home for me.

He told me well if there are New Yorkers like you around, I'd like to visit. He felt like our city was literally a war zone based on news.

I told him some things are true and all big cities are going to have crime and helped him feel comfortable with it in general.

He also helped me remember, which I fail to do sometimes, is to remember to be made at the politicians more, because they're all pushing us to fight with each other half the time.

Despite politics we all have a lot more in common with each other than we realize. He was so nice that I gave him my number and said to text me if he's really serious about going to the city and I'll take him and his wife out somewhere nice and show him a fun time. I don't know if he will but I would love it if he did.

Back when I was in college and before I had a car, I had a great deal of groceries in my hands and had to walk several blocks to get to my apartment. A nice old lady came up in her truck and offered me a ride. I was very thankful because it was a hot summer day in SC.

They offered to buy one of the items on my Amazon wish list for me. Of course, I politely declined, but it was incredibly kind of them.

I still remember her , she was a lady she bought a water bottle for me and didn't take money , in a train journey if I was go down the train I maybe miss the train
