Why is the good friend of the guy I am interested in is telling me to shoot my shot with the guy I like?

I am friends with the guy I am asking for advice. But the guy I like and my friend are good friends, where they hang out a lot and help each other with life stuff. I asked the same friend on text if he genuinely thinks I should move on and get clarity on what he meant last week in regards to my history with the guy I like when he mentioned that he may want me and may also not want me previously when we were in limbo about us. However, the friend continues to just tell me to shoot my shot by telling him I still like him.

I told him I texted the guy I am interested in tonight, who reciprocated and yet also did not where he was acting weird. I shared it was really confusing me where I am asking, should I move on, or what do I do. But the friend only persists in saying his philosophy is to shoot my shot, and the worst thing someone can say is no. I just don't know if I am gonna get rejected, would he still say that? Or does he think there's a slight chance, and he's not telling me directly because he wants me to find out on my own?

I think its fine to feel this way, you start from where you are in life not from where you should be. That being said what you are doing is overthinking and the cure for that is action. Shoot your shot now before someone else shoots him

Ty for being understanding 💗 I’m just really scared… last night I actually texted him, I was flirting and teasing him because we had a moment where we had eye contact, smiled and laugh while being so far away from each other. I asked him about his smile that he was up to something. He play along. But when I ask what it mean if he had something to say or someone on his mind. He literally didn’t reply… I feel rejected cuz it’s obvious I was flirting a little… and he was being weird to play along and then never answer it… so I don't know if I should bring it up that I still like him after that

Awww thank you for this positive and uplifting advice!! 😭💗 unfortunately I’m not ready… I’m scare and not confident… I once did confess half a year ago but we also got into a misunderstanding where we stopped talking and now we are in a slow burn on reconnecting.. I feel like if he wanna know where I stand and us, he can try to ask or try harder… but I don’t know… I’m also recently realizing there’s someone else I’m into but he’s off limits. I just have no luck…

Hi I wanna come back and tell you tysm for giving me courage during this time. I decided I’ll let things naturally come on its own. I also feel like if he wanted something serious, he knew he could pursue me but he isn’t doing anything. It’s not what I’m looking for since I want someone who does wanna be serious with me. I’m also tryna stay neutral, move on, and admire him from a distance like he does with me since he isn’t doing more. But you’re amazing and I just wanted you to know! ☺️
