For example, I was talking to a guy who seemingly had everything going well in life, friends , job, house, age and girlfriends, but couldn’t even show one picture of himself to identify him after weeks of chatting. If he wanted to be anonymous, he could have just said so, but why would he send fake pictures of himself if he is so apparently attractive?

This can happen for a number of reasons, none of which reflect on you. They might be deeply insecure, creating a perfect persona because they feel their real self isn't good enough. The most concerning possibility is that they're catfishing, using a fake identity to manipulate or deceive people. Other reasons could include a strong desire for privacy or simply enjoying the experience of playing a character they've created online.

Thank you and you’re right, I think he is enjoying playing a character online. Would have been nice though if he didn’t feel the need to lie, because I liked the personality of the person I was talking to and wouldn’t have judged him if he had been honest but finding out he had been lying about something so fundamental from the start was shocking.

I mean how stupid do they think guys are? Do they just intend on NEVER meeting him? Maybe that is the case and they're just trying to get thier ego stroked. But if it was your plan to eventually meet someone you're going to have to be the real you at some point. Why not just start with that.

Indeed, I have encountered that scenario with men on this platform on numerous occasions. They start out nice, but the topic of conversation always turns to sex. Then it is time to report and block.
