Is it odd that even as an adult my dad doesn’t 100% respect my boundaries?

My father’s no perverted creep. He’s never been anything more than a father. I was never touched or sexually abused but he does things that makes me believe he still sees me as a little girl and though he respects me as a young woman some things he does I can tell he sees me as just his daughter. Today for example. The remote was on the couch next to me. He asked for it and rather than wait for me to give it to him when he spotted it, I was practically sitting on it, he grabbed it from under me and he didn’t touch my butt, but to get to it it obviously it was some contact. I knew he wasn’t being weird and caressing me or anything and if wasn’t for the remote it wouldn’t have happened but I just wish he respected my boundaries more.

Is it acceptable? No. Is it weird? No. We always hold our parents in esteem that was natural when you were growing up. It's difficult to view them without the rose-colored glasses but they are susceptible to the same weakness as everyone else. If you are referring to boundaries that are physical or sexual than what I just said is naive and I didn't mean to trivialize that. Its a jolt to see parents as human. How did you feel when you 1st realized that you're living proof that they fucked. Or worse, catch in flagrante delicto

Yea. I realize that my parents are figuring it out and still were figuring it out when they had me. Their weakness in my opinion is me growing up and leaving the nest. They loose control and can’t protect me anymore hence why my dad doesn’t have boundaries because he feels he still has to protect me from the world though I’m an adult.

Not odd just frustrating. I had the same issue with my mom for a long time until I really started enforcing the boundaries.
