But how do you feel when a driver pulls up beside you for directions?

I have fond memories of parking the car to unfold the Ordinance Survey Map.
I can't imagine ever actually asking someone for directions.
HOWEVER after I moved to London as a student I made quite a lot of tourists feel super awkward because I wasn't confident I could describe the way to places properly, and I'd feel guilty if they got lost... so I'd offer to personally escort the tourists to their destination. I'd lead them down all the little deserted backstreets to get to where they wanted to go, and I was quiet the whole time... and they'd just sorta sheepishly thank me and leave.
I was once asked for directions to an airport because I was where the old airport had been until it had closed two decades prior. I thought it was a prank until the couple showed me the outdated map they were using. I told them how to get to the current airport.
Sometimes women get kidnapped by people asking directions. They can give directions from the sidewalk, not at the van's window. Someone could sneak out the back door and grab her.
Woe don't say that that's extreme. But sadly you are right luckily, I think it happens more in the 70s. And eighties. But still you are right. Women still have to be more cautious
I sometimes think they're not really lost, but just want to chat a little. Especially older men. I'm always polite and do my best to point them in the right direction.

I generally don't mind when someone asks me for directions, but on the rare occasions they do, it's almost always some super obscure place I've never heard of.
Like, sorry, but I have no idea where Madam Balogne's House of Miniature Pommel Horses is located. Nobody knows that, you freak.
I get nervous like you do I do the best that I can and it works out, but I’m a little bit shy and honestly, I go by the landmarks, not exact addresses Miami is so big. It’s hard to know every single address in this town like you know your own address and directions
I feel like they appreciate the adventurous life of an explorer looking at paper maps. And asking clueless or confused pedestrians. It's nice they still exist !
Or they just ran out of broadband data?
Hasn’t happened in a long while. Not while driving at least. I’ve been asked directions while walking. I’m happy to help if i can, but i can’t always. I was new to the area myself and i have a lousy sense of direction.
I don’t get nervous. I ask them for the directions that they already have. Then either straighten them out with their directions or give them new.
Without wishing to offend I wouldn't ask a woman because men and women navigate differently.
Plus women never know where north is.
North is up
I'm so glad we have a neurologist now, trained in brain differences according to gender 🥳
@Maybe_Maybe_not It is pretty well established men & women navigate differently.
I asked my team, which was 50/50 male and female, where North was and the guys were all between North West North and North East North. The girls pointed in every direction.
When I'm in the Northern hemisphere I get quite disoriented because the sun isn't where I expect it.
Male and female brains are fortunately different. Fortunately because it means a couple is more competent.
Competent, yeah. You seem very serious, and unashamed, about using whatever biochemistry to justify whatever ideology. Not my first time with a GaG user cooking their own weird soup, usually it's religion based but sometimes it's science based. I can't tell which one is the cringest lol
@Maybe_Maybe_not What different areas of the brain perform what functions was mostly derived from battlefield injuries which meant mostly men.
MRI's changed things because if blood flow to specific areas of the brain indicate thinking, it was possible to see what areas of the brain were responsible for task types.
Results started coming in around the 2000's so late 90's experiments.
Inverting the question why would we think men and women would have the same brain since in tribal days roles were gender based? Why wouldn't men evolve to be better at throwing spears and women better at berry picking? It wouldn't make sense if that didn't happen.
It is controversial nonetheless because feminism asserts our brains are the same.
In fact it is emerging that Left and Conservative political views are correlated with brain structure. This is to the degree that political views can be inferred from MRIs to moderate accuracy.
It might be easier for you to accept Left and Conservative brains are different than male and female brains are different. So have think.
I cannot even remember the last time that happened.
If I know the area I'd give them directions. Although, They usually ask me for directions when im in an area im not familiar with
I don't mind but tend to be clueless about places and street names. Even sfter living there for years I've no ìdea but businesses i an help with usually
Because I don’t like to talking, mostly i’ll pretend i don’t speak their language.
I usually don't know how to explain to them that I don't know "how to get there", because I don't know how to drive, traffic rules are different when you walk there.
Takes me back to the time before all the pubs closed down
I am happy to help them out.
Doesn’t bother me
I have no issues helping someone out
It makes me feel smarter.
Hasn't happened since gps
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Happy to help, but no one ever asks me anything
Im fine with it.
not sure
