When I first noticed this guy, he was staring at me. I found him cute. Then it was like we were making eye contacts every day. I would catch him looking at me, I would look at him. But these last few weeks he hasn't been making any eye contact with me. He isn't even looking at me. I interacted with him for the first time today. I asked him for a pen and he looked straight into my eyes for a split second before giving me one. Then a couple minutes later, I asked if I could take it for the next class. He nodded without looking at me, writing in his notebook. And the last time, I gave him his pen back and said thank you. Again he nodded without looking at me. He is kinda shy by the way, and super nerdy. He was sitting behind me in class today.

I don't think he is shy. Shy people would behave differently and would look down to avoid your piercing look rather than just to look at you for a tenth of a second.

I think he has lost interest in you. He may have been assessing and gauging you from a distance and then made up his mind that you were not the kind of girl he may be interested in.

There could be other reasons like he has already a girlfriend. Crushes are usually one-sided and seldom reciprocated.
