Guys your girl is upset or you can see has been crying (social setting and not due to something you have done) what is the first thing you do?

You are both completely correct but the answer I was looking for as the first thing you'd do is give her a hug... you don't need to ask you already know she is upset or has been, why doesn't matter at first as she needs comfort and love and a hug is better than any words, the words can come later.

Listen to what has upset her initially so you have some idea of what happened. In some social circumstances you can just remove her. In other circumstances say a wedding you can't. Say another woman has been bitchy to her.

What doesn't work is to tell them not to worry about bitch X. It doesn't help to enable her to go deeper into the hole.

I have noticed how other women deal with an upset woman. They listen then distract. Works for a bit but upset woman comes back to the upset. They distract again. Effectively they distract her out of it.

Sex is the ultimate distraction. I think men, (at least I do), have an inbuilt desire to fuck a crying woman better. There is probably an evolutionary reason for this.

Again something you can't do at a a wedding and you need to leave this till you get home.

At a point though you can appeal to her beauty ego. No woman wants to look bad. You can tell her to make herself beautiful again. That is the other distraction.
