Guys, why do girls call me pretty but i’ve never gotten attention from guys?

Can a guy help me out here please- I can’t tell if it’s because I’m ugly or because of my personality. I’ve added a recent photo of myself so you can see how I look.

For context, I used to be pretty chubby and average looking when I was younger, but since I lost weight, got a better style and ability to do makeup, a lot of girls have called me pretty and I’ve made lots more friends.

However, I always hoped maybe guys would start noticing me because of it but they never do. It could be because I have a more artsy sense of style that maybe gives off the impression that I’m into girls (nose piercing, lots of jewellery, wouldn’t be caught dead in sports wear) but also I’m pretty girly, plus some guys are into artsy girls.

I’m nearly 17, in my last year of highschool and still I’ve never even been in a talking stage. The last time a boy had a crush on me is when I was 12 and nothing happened between us because I didn’t really like him and I didn’t think about boyfriends at that age. Am I still ugly or is it my personality? I’m not that confident so maybe that plays a part in it, but surely I can’t be so ugly that a boy hasn’t even tried to remotely flirt with me?

The reasons for that can be limitless, I don't think appearance is the issue but perhaps you don't look easy to approach or like you said, you give off an uninterested vibe, try dressing more girly, and to clarify by more girly I definitely don't mean more revealing, just girly, brighter colors, more genderised clothing like woman's jeans, skirts woman's jackets etc.

First! Much too, much too premature for you to start worrying about getting attention from guys. Why do you want attention from another 17-year-old?

Wait until you get out of High School, and into the real world', and you will do fine with men your age... High school, is not the real world.
