Is it wrong to stop wanting to hang or be friends with someone who likes the same guy as me?

She’s very nice and helpful but my insecurities and my self esteem can’t handle being around her especially since he is warm with her and cold with me…

she seems more up beat and happy by the possible attention he’s giving her… maybe he’s drawn to her and hates me

I know It’s a shitty feeling when you like someone but they like your friend or someone you know instead , so yes it can make you jealous that they aren’t receiving the attention that you crave from them , but unfortunately this happens a lot of times , So the best thing you can do , is just accept it for what it is , and realize that person isn’t the person for you period , if they are nt giving you the same attention you are giving them in return , and understand , there are plenty of fish in the sea , so eventually you will catch one that wants you the same way you want them , never knock yourself down because one person doesn’t see you like you see them , Only invest your time into someone that gives you back the same in return . As for your friend or coworker , just be happy for them and support them even though you are jealous , but u destined you deserve someone that makes you their priority period , never settle for less. Listen to The Rolling Stones song , You can’t always get what you want , all we can do is try , if we don’t succeed oh well move on to someone else u til you succeed

Simply because someone chooses someone else is no reason to feel "Sad and ugly." And it's no reason to stop being friends with the woman in question, unless you really don't like her.

People will not choose you because of. a variety of reasons. You say she is more upbeat and happy than you are. These are two consistent reasons that people choose people to be friends with.

Work on your self-esteem issues and the source of your not being upbeat and happy. These may be personality issues, or simply where you are in your life. You can change where you are in life. Personality issues are more difficult. But seek a therapist to help you with the self-esteem problems. Good luck.
