The latest on the Gilgo Beach serial killer trial is that a judge ruled a single trial will be held for all seven murder charges against Rex Heuermann and allowed advanced DNA evidence to be used. His next court appearance is scheduled for January 2026, as prosecutors recently declared they are ready for trial and have turned over all evidence to the defense.
Also who watched the sex worker that did an interview about how she allegedly went on a meetup with him and she got the creep vibes from him and she took off and avoided her possible death? It was truly chilling. If your into true crime than you tube that.

Shit. I wrote a large opinion on this earlier, but lost it before I could post.
I grew up rather close to Rex. Not "next door" but a long walking distance (under 2 miles). He is a year younger than me. We attended a rather large school district, so, given the internal boundaries within the school district, we never would have attended the same schools (*).
This map is how Rex Heuermann would have walked 1.8 miles to my house where I grew up. (I now live far from where I grew up; my family having sold our home 30 years ago and leaving 4 years earlier but renting our home during that time.) Until being arrested, Rex lived in the home he grew-up in pictured in the map.
Rex lived at 105 1st Avenue which is the right (eastern) end in these two paths.
Now, where there's the dark blue path and it says "40 min." up top, ... there are two schools there - an elementary school and a junior high school. That's where I went to elementary and middle school. The elementary and middle schools that Rex attended are in the upper right.
The light blue path is likely the path I would have walked and it is also the driveable path.
It may not appear well on the map (look for train icons), but there are two LIRR train stations. Mine was the one on the left and Rex's was the one on the right.
Billy Baldwin is the same age as me and he did go to high school with Rex albeit Billy graduated in 1981 like I did and Rex graduated in 1982.
Brian Kilmeade lived near me and we went to the same schools and knew each other when we were kids. Brian was the same age as Rex though having graduated in 1982.
My first girlfriend (who I first started dating on this date 45 years ago, 20 NOV 1980) did go to 2 years of middle school with Rex since they were the same age, but she went to my and Brian's high school.
Jerry Seinfeld is 10 years older than Rex. He would have gone to a different elementary school but the same middle school and high school as Rex. However, Jerry's family moved elsewhere in our town, but I don't know when, but, where Jerry moved to, he would have gone to a different elementary school than everyone mentioned here, but the same middle and high school as me and Brian Kilmeade. I know Jerry graduated from my high school in 1972.
By the way, Billy Baldwin's father, Alexander Baldwin, was a social studies teacher in my high school (his kids went to the other high school in our district). I didn't go to school with Billy or his brothers, but I did know Billy when we were 7 in the summer of 1970; Mr. Baldwin ran a summer recreation program for young kids out of my elementary school. (*)
(*) When we all started going to school, there were 7 elementary schools (K-6), 2 middle schools (7-8), and 2 high schools (9-12) in our district. Some schools have closed or been repurposed. 2 of the elementary schools are now a police academy (the elementary school Rex attended) and a trade school (which stopped being an elementary school in 1978 or 1979). In that district, elementary school is now grades K-5. There is one middle school for grades 6-8. One school is just grade 9 for high school. Grades 10-12 are in the one high school now. SO, in other words, if the school system was like this when we went to school, I would have gone to high school for 2 years with Rex Heuermann; he would have attended my high school for Grades 10-12, but we would have overlapped in Grade his Grades 10-11 and me 11-12. Also, I would have graduated with Billy Baldwin and Rex would have graduated with Brian Kilmeade.
I doubt the trial will public because I believe NY does not have video cameras in the courtroom.

Amazing how close proximity he was to you and your girlfriend.
I was wondering about the camera's and what not.
This was a shocking case and because it was unsolved for much too long.
