He definitely should, if found guilty. I hadn't heard of this case before, but judging by what I found in a quick search, it looks like his lawyers aren't really even fighting the charges and are instead just trying to prevent a death penalty.
I also found however that Idaho is pausing all executions for about a year due to facility renovations/switching from lethal injection to firing squad. I don't think that will necessarily matter in sentencing.
I believe life in prison without parole is worse than the death penalty. Imagining spending about 22/23 hours per day in a cell for the rest of your life. Not fun.
As for your question I don’t really know but I’m guessing not.
