Judge Juan Merchan rejected a motion from Donald Trump to dismiss the New York hush money case and set the president-elect's sentencing for Jan. 10.
663 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Well, there is no jail time, as Merchand has said. That said, he will be sentenced, but not held accountable for all he did: paying hush money to a porn star before his 2020 win (which could have cost him the presidency had it been known), and inciting an insurrection. What is disturbing is that once they do this, any upcoming president can do the same and worse, and get away with it. I am hoping, that he would be given jail time after his presidency, because I believe he deserves it, for all he has done. He did cheat on his taxes, along with give Russia top-secret information, foolishly discussed this among other people (I saw the video of him talking with them), was convicted or rape, and who knows what little "secret" he had before the election. Who knows what he and Elon will decide in the future. It's scary to say the least. I don't look forward to the next 4 years here.

"inciting an insurrection." No he didn't. How much prison time did he get for that? None? The truth is now out and Trump offered 10,000 national guard troops, and Pelosi and the mayor refused them. Why? Because this was a setup. The Dems wanted this to happen. Nancy later admitted that it was her fault for rejecting the troops.
"He did cheat on his taxes" MSNBC said the same thing, and it turned out that he paid 30 million in taxes that year.
"give Russia top-secret information" Really? How much prison time did he get for that? None? That's because the three year investigation proved that he didn't.
"was convicted or rape" Really? How much prison time did he get for that? None?
"I don't look forward to the next 4 years here" Move to Canada.

@ReesesThins2 Just because our own Judicial system in this country is FLAWED, doe snot mean the Ameriican people are blind to what happens. It WAS an insurrection, no matter what YOU choose to believe. It was no tea party. You are clearly just as brainwashed, racist, and bigoted as the orange moron who just won't go away.

You shouldn't use the word "moron."

1.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Judge Merchan Is fed up with Trump's disdain for the courts as shown by his ignoring orders of not discussing his case publicly while it was ongoing, his calling for Merchan to be disbarred, and many other things Trump has done and said against the judicial branch. Trump will likely appeal to the Supreme Court to have the verdict overturned and they will likely have at least one judge agree to hear it (remember that Trump has helped put justices in that court). That will stop any sentencing from happening till after his appeal is heard, which will be after he is sworn in as president. And regardless of what that hearing decides, he will use being president to get out of any punishment. In other words, he will not be punished in any way!

Asker1 yHe has already been found guilty. This is just about sentencing, and the Judge is not going to impose any monetary or custodial punishments. He has already said that.
Asker1 yOkay so I'm absolutely positive that the judge probably lied in public and is going to not do what he said he was going to do because it won't have any ill effects on him at all. It doesn't matter if it's happened already. What matters is the judge said what he said and he's going to do what he said he's going to do and nothing more unfortunately.
Trump absolutely belongs in prison for the crimes that he committed.- 1 y
Neither New York case is going to make it to the Supreme Court. Both New York cases are going to be overturned by the New York State Appellate Court.

1 yWell... That's New York. The only potentially more left-wing state is California. Of course they will try to harm soon-to-be President Donald Trump's reputation as much as possible. I don't think it matters much anyway, since the US citizens have already spoken, and they've sent the Demorats out of every single federal office of power possible. They will try to dish out their vengeance while they can, but a step too far might cost them not just their power they held so far, but maybe even their lives if the US citizens decide to make use of the Second Amendment the way it was supposed to be used.

Anonymous(30-35)1 yIn the eyes of justice, no one is special, including the president. Trump is a convicted felon, he should be sentenced the same as any other felon is sentenced. When imposing sentence, the judge will surely consider his old age and arrest record.
Rarely would a felon, convicted of non-violent crimes, be confined to prison.

Idc honestly, we are screwed either way since he won the election & he gets 4 years to be himself. I don’t think it will be the worst thing in the world as long as Bird Flu isn’t a pandemic….

Asker1 yTrump denies his guilt despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, and many people support that denial by making fantastical reasons as to why he was indicted. For instance, there was ample evidence that he stole top secret materials and stored them in a bathroom at Mar a Lago which was illegal as hell, yet people to this day will say it was ok that he did this or it never happened, or he somehow had the right to do it - and on and on.
When people are willing to make excuse after excuse for this sort of thing there is something very wrong.

21 Reply 3.9K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It's an unconditional release. All that happens is thst he has a criminal record. No time served in jail. By precedent though it means gag orders are not binding. You won't get a more severe sentence for ignoring thrm.

Anonymous(36-45)1 yThis is a good thing for trump appealing the sentence and getting the case thrown out all together on the grounds of its absurdly unconstitutional violations of the 6th amendment among other gross violations.
Unfortunately with Trump being president it would still be easier for it to be thrown out012 Reply
Asker1 yAnother amateur legal expert decides something he doesn't like is "absurdly unconstitutional".
Opinion Owner1 yYou don't have to be an 'expert' to know what the 6th amendment says you can read it for yourself:
"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence"
Nor would any honest man respect a so anointed 'expert' that would so claim a case in which the exact nature and cause of the 'criminal' accusation was never establish could be adjudicated, For a man cannot prove his innocent of a crime he know not what.
Asker1 yHe asked for the delays and agreed to them. He falsified business records to conceal his payoff to the porn star so as to not have it influence the election. The jury understood this - why don't you?
Opinion Owner1 yThe jury had no idea why his business records were written as they were, the prosecution made no specific case as to why. They didn't even know they were false that was an unjust assumption.
As for influencing the election that is absurd, for the reporting requirement if any would have been AFTER the election. Nor was that already rejected by the Federal election commission charge for obvious reasons even made as required by the 6th amendment.
The prosecution knew had such a charge been made it would have just as easily been defeated which is why they didn't make it and the judge violating the 6th amendment just told the jury to presume he had already been convicted of the same.
A necessary presumption of guilt for the judge himself to have any jurisdiction to question his business records at all. Again that violate Trump's right to the presumption of innocents as well.
There is a reason there is no justice int he state of New York. Their leaders appoint lawless despots like this to run their "courts".
Asker1 yI'll be sure to tell the judge your legal opinion.
Opinion Owner1 yI do not live in New York nor would I consent to because the state is lawless not merely for men like trump but every other man.
All because its political leaders have put men like that in charge.
Asker1 yHopefully you also don't have anything to do with the law law or with rendering any sort of quasi-legal opinions. At least not for money anyway.

Before You acccue. Someone. Get you facts straight

Opinion Owner1 y@NYCQuestions1976 New York's leaders intentionally remade the law to spesficly target their political enemies. In the process they created a very hostile environment in New York.
Where random women with basically no evidence on the account of being decades old can take hundreds of millions of dollars from men they may or may not have ever been alone with.
We HOPE that would only be used against the political enemies of New York's political leadership but not only is everyone a political enemy of those in charge at some point that is also not how law works. Even one of the law's authors ended up getting snared by it.
The tax document case is really anther case of abuse as people who actually do taxes for large business know, and anyone understanding the point of the 6th amendment should know.
The fact that theses cases will be thrown out really doesn't matter so much that they were brought because in states like New York the process is already ruinous enough as a punishment.
New York was shooting itself in the foot by even bring theses cases creating a large liability to living and working in New York. A liability that has driven a great many new York businesses to other states.- 1 y
@monorprise All of that is true, and because of that, it makes it even more important that the New York State Appellate Court overturn both cases before they get to the Supreme Court. As of right now, it seems extremely likely that's what's going to happen. All of the judges on the New York State Appellate Court are Democrats, and the left won't be able to fall back on their flawed and ridiculous "conservative Supreme Court" argument.

Democrats have no problem looking stupid, as long as they can hate Trump. They hope that saying something stupid will resonate with other liberals.![So Trump will be sentenced anyway - what do you think about this?]()
This idiot from MSNBC said Trump will bring back slavery. That is quite possibly the dumbest thing I ever heard. But she doesn't care if she looks stupid. That's because her viewers are just as dumb as her. And Joy Reid has four years to bask in her stupidity, before she will be proven wrong. But liberals won't remember that she said it, because they can't remember last week.
Asker1 yI can easily answer you, I just won't. I don't take orders from you. But keep trying.
