Why do handsome guys do this?

I've noticed that handsome guys would deliberately avoid eye contact with me but then look at me secretly. Once I was walking on the street, checked out a tall handsome young dude then immediately looked away, he didn't make eye contact with me, pretended to look at the window glass next to me (maybe to secretly take a peek at who I am). Then when I looked back at him for a millisecond, he just dodge eye contact and resumed walking

Similar thing happened at the hospital where I interned, i would look at a hot guy (med student), he would avoid eye contact.( I wasn't staring by the way). Then after a while, I noticed him staring at me out of curiosity, out of the corner of my eye, when he thought i wasn't looking

I wouldn't say im the most attractive girl. But attractiveness is in eye of beholder. But do guys do this when they're not interested?

It would only mean something if its the same guy over and over. I'm very shy with women, and that is something I always do when I have a lot of interest in her. There was one girl I was extraordinarily attracted to, and I could not help but focus on her when I knew she was nearby.

Yes, this can happen even if a guy isn’t fully interested. Often it’s curiosity or being shy, they might want to look but don’t want to seem obvious or get rejected. Secret glances and avoiding direct eye contact are usually more about nervousness than lack of interest.

This is pretty normal and it’s usually not someone trying to be rude. A lot of women I’ve notice do the same thing. Why? They don’t want to seem like they’re rude or creepy staring at someone. They don’t want to make anyone else or themselves feel awkward or uncomfortable.

Usually if someone’s not interested they won’t be looking at you, if they happen to be looking at someone behind, beside, or in front of you or something else or just staring off into space. Generally, if they make awkward eye contact they won’t look back. I mean…. Sure someone can be so ugly that it’s like looking at a train crash. It’s so bad…. Yet you can’t look away. But I doubt it.

Most people if they don’t know you. Generally don’t want to be rude or creepy or awkward. Plus, it’s possible some of these men have a girlfriend or wife.

If you really like a guy… say hi. If he rejects you…. You’ll probably never see him again

i i can't really tell if they're not looking at me cuz they're not interested or if they just don't wanna come off as creepy. I find that in the city, men usually avoid eye contact with me but women do not.

If they’re looking at you. Probably interested but want to be respectful. Not rude to creepy.

Like…. Do you ever see a hot guy. But don’t want to stare because you don’t wanna make things awkward or come off as rude. Especially if well does he have a girlfriend? Will he like me?

I live in NYC. most guys in general don't make eye contact with women. I find that guys tend to be way friendlier if in a group setting or if we are classmates. On streets, they avoid eye contact like the plague.

Well… yeah. They don’t know you and it’s a big city they see lots of people daily. I mean yeah that makes sense.

but i feel like its way easier to get a handsome guy in the midwest or the south than in places like NYC- where people are so shallow and competition is just so stiff.

Hmm…. I don’t live in a big city. Only visited. And I’ve noticed many people tend to walk fast and try not to make awkward interactions.

It’s not to say you cannot attempt to talk to someone. But things are different in the Midwest and south. I grew up in Missouri and that’s where I live today.

True. NYC has a lot more people therefore more people to choose from. Meaning… there is lots of men.

Maybe you just have to step outside toir comfort zone. Maybe you get ignored or rejected some. But. At least you’re putting yourself out there. I would just be cautious approaching randos. That’s all

But I also get how the opposite may be true. Maybe you feel like all these men have a lot of women to choose from.

Think of it this way. Quality > Quantity. You’re not going to date every man and every man isn’t going to date you. It’s better to find the people who are genuinely interested then being attractive to everyone. If that makes sense

That’s really what dating is. Who am I genuinely attracted to? Who is genuinely attracted to me? And then compatibility.

If you go out expecting to impress every man that walks by. They pass 100s of women a day who look good. They don’t know you.

Maybe there isn’t a man that you know personally that you feel attracted to. Don’t rush things. Because when people start to rush they can get themselves into bad situations.

You're fishing for people to tell you these desirable guys are obviously into you. It's the typical, "Why do all these gorgeous guys/girls stare at me on the bus and smile at me when I look at them?" Or my favorite, "Why do beautiful girls get nervous and avoid eye contact when I try to talk to them?"

First of all, thanks for acknowledging the fact that you think I am handsome and really attractive. But, I don't know, eye contacts feel a little bit too intense and awkward for most normal people, including guys I think...😬 You should try to strike up a conversation with this person first, out in public. Get to know them better, try to get closer to their lives. And really focus on your desire and longing for them, as a person. Make them feel the intense feeling that you have within and attempt make it mutual. After all, we all need other people to survive and thrive. Try to experiment with different feelings and emotions, you may also start to feel that this person may have become to mainstream for you and the desire may start to wane as well, but you'd never know if you didn't TRY.
