What does it mean if people said I’m not pretty I’m striking?

Striking means a sort of beautiful that is beyond words - it can make someone speechless.

For example, one Saturday about 2 or 3 years ago, I was in line for the drive-thru at a Panda Express. I was getting food for my wife and had to remember the order... I pull up to the drive-thru window and a young girl about 20ish is going to take my order. I see her and my brain freezes for God knows how long. I was like a deer caught in headlights. Some part of my brain that was still sane said to me "Dude! You have to say something." So, I snapped out of it for a moment and, without thinking, said "Wow. You are really beautiful." I didn't blurt that out - no exclamation points - because I was still stunned. She thanked me. I have enough momentary sanity to tell the girl I wanted the teryaki chicken, but then I lost it again. I am just looking at this girl in awe as she is talking to me. She's asking me questions like if I want sauce on the side and God knows what else. I just said "yeah" to whatever she said which went in one ear and out the other. I didn't want to leave when I got my order. When I got home, my wife bitched at me about the order because I got it wrong... because I didn't hear a thing the girl said I was so mesmerized by looking at her. I apologized to my wife and told her the story. She laughed and cut me some slack.

I would need more context. Like did you ask someone if you were pretty, and they said no you're striking? Or did they say you're striking out of the blue, without being asked anything? Or what?

Striking isn't bad. Most (though not all) women who are striking are also pretty.

I said for a blunt opinion to a guy and asked am I pretty? He said I wouldn’t say pretty. You’re striking. I then told others he said this and they were just silent

I do not know as I’ve been called striking more than once but another time someone called me a plain Jane. Another very pretty so I’m confused 🤔. I don’t wear makeup or style my hair so….

Oh! In that case maybe they were a bit jealous. I mean in a way it could seem like you were trying to subtly gloat about it because I think we all know what striking means, it’s like saying you don’t know what beautiful or good looking is. So to ask them they could think you were trying to dig for validation or something, maybe make them feel bad. I’m sure you weren’t but often girls can be insecure.
