I get called pretty at work but why do some of the other people take the opportunity to tell me that I’m not pretty and that I’m a 2/10?

When I first started working people called me pretty girl but then on Friday an old lady that was kinda wacky but funny saw me and said “not pretty’ while I was talking to her telling her that I was trying to straighten out the boxes, and then a guy was saying that I was a 2/10 I don’t know why people take time out of their day to say something like that when I’m just trying to mind my own business and work. Old me would’ve believed the 2/10 but I know that I’m closer to average looking not ugly lol and the funny thing was that there was a guy that looked like him telling me that I was very beautiful and asking for my number the other day at work😂 .

I hear this story from girls your age all the time, older women are jealous they don’t have the physical attractiveness and upward social mobility potential that younger people have so they put you down to rectify the sense of devaluation they feel at being viewed as older and less attractive.

What’s better to be called pretty and have people gawk after you, or have people tell you you’re unattractive? One seems like it would be terrible (the latter) while the other I hear a lot of women complain about because the men they want to find them attractive don’t. So it’s bad for them too.

Then he's definitely a tool. He was probably rejected a lot or maybe he thinks that he can bring down a girl's self-conscious to get them to sleep with him.
