Guys, Do you have a "spokesperson" to root for you to other people?

As some of you know, there's a fellow I was trying to figure out for the past few months... sometimes he's "on" (very attentive, volunteering to help, the picture of gentlemanly kindness) and other times he's "off" (moody, standoffish, ignoring his own promises) till finally I got sick and tired of his Jekyll-and-Hyde antics and walked away for good.

Funny thing about him is that I've been a family friend for an eternity, so his sister would call to check in with me, make sure I was ok, explain her crazy brother... and I told her I just think he's too crazy for me... Months went this way... He'd get rude, I'd step back, she'd call or text the moment I said goodbye.

in my opinion a guy should be able to speak up and fight his own battles. It was the first time I saw my deer friend acting as ambassador for her brother.

Looking back it was a genius move bc he knew I'd soften up and forgive him bc I'm long-time friends with her.

Anyway, I was wondering how many other guys have a friend or family member to be their ambassador/spokesperson to others?

I also wouldn't let the sister get me to take the guy back or keep letting him back in. I'd tell him to pound rocks.

I'd stay friends with the sister, but make it known to her, he's out.

I did. I think it's the first time he was considering someone she could actually get along with. She admitted that she's never liked anyone he's ever dated before. I told her a while back, though, that no matter what happens I want to stay friends with her, that I know she doesn't like being "monkey in the middle" to her brother's antics... I guess it was just uncharted territory for all of us.

I struggled to stay friends with her the past year... I reached out to her yesterday and she replied. I'm not going to push my luck, though.

My best friend. She's been that since my 4th birthday and will be till one of us passes.

I call it mediation... we use it at the office. But I find some guys always have that person to "explain" them. It's a little funny.

Yeah. That's basically the role he's had her take on.

Meh. I can't tell if he asks her to do it or if she is doing it on her own (interfering). She likes to interfere.

My buddy is one of the best speakers I know and he could easily talk me up in any social scenario and has offered a few times, but I always turn him down for that same reason. I prefer to fight my own battles

I don't ask anybody to do that for me but they may do it themselves

Same. I have a few people I've helped out over the years and they like to make a fuss if I show up to something. They'll mention positive things about me and do the sort of bragging a person really never should do for themselves.

I did that ONE time for a guy friend who was JUST AMAZING. I'd always "explain him" to other people. But a good guy doesn't need anyone to explain him in my opinion. His actions speak for themselves.
