Why does he keep asking me to block him, but then he won’t block me himself?

He ghosted me for three months after saying he loves me which he always says to me every morning “Good morning I love u”. Anyways he came back after the three months acting like nothing happened, as if he never ghosted me. He had the audacity to then ask me if I was ignoring him when I didn’t respond to him coming back right away. I responded the next day with a bland “Hi” because I was so confused…and he complimented me and said I was so pretty. Afterwards he asked me why I haven’t blocked him by now. I asked him why he didn’t just block me himself if he didn’t want me on his profile anymore. He responded saying that he still wanted to have my page. After that I said that he knew why I didn’t block him, because I was in love with him and cared about him. He then said “You should block me now”. What is the logic behind this weird “block me, but I won’t” mentality, I seriously don’t understand it? Why does he keep asking me to block him so badly but he won’t unfollow me or block me me from his account himself…

Because of his mental health you described it could be self sabotage on his part, self punishment but could to be that he feels sorry for himself, or want you to feel sorry for him. My best takes of what's going on. I do not think it is unusual that he one minute pulls you in, the other push you out. Thing is I hope he gets to a place within of balance and only then you two can have a shot at bslance. Its good you looked out for him but try not to get codependent and think of yourself too.

We had a sexual relationship yeah. We weren’t ever like official and I didn’t really care but he would always say he loved me. We were always extremely close, talking everyday and spoiling one another. I’m really laid back so like idc if he sees other people. I helped him through 3 suicide attempts, he struggles badly with mental health. So when he ghosted me last was when he had his last attempt, I stayed up all night with him. He kept saying for me to block him after this because he would hurt me. It’s just so weird tbh I don't know

Why does it matter? Because I want to know from a mans perspective what the thought process is of him not wanting to let me go but he wants me to let him go when I don’t want to. We have a deep history and I care for him, that’s why it matters. If he wants me gone I don’t get why he can’t just cut me off himself but he contradict himself by saying he doesn’t want me gone.
