Guys, would you be annoyed if a woman thanked you for doing her a favor?

There was something urgent I needed to get done and no way for me to go and accomplish the task bc I was on a work-related trip. So I placed a few calls and as a last resort called a guy I know (who I've written a bit about on here already). Aside from giving fair warning that pick-up/delivery time might have to be tentative because of his schedule, he didn't ask any questions or hesitate to accept the task.

What should have just been a simple pick-up/delivery turned into a 3-hour pilgrimage from the shop where the very delicate (30lb) item was through hours of gridlock bc of a massive public procession that hadn't been announced at all. He ended up dragging it through public transportation to get it to its destination (10 miles away). When he finally was able to drop it off, he texted that the mission was accomplished and I declared him my hero of the day.

I didn't get to thank him in person for a while bc our work had kept us very busy, but I ran into him and we started chatting each other up. Finally I said something complimentary to him about his kind gesture to me (the favor of doing the inconvenient trek for me). He looked annoyed and shrugged. "You're still thinking about that?"

I admitted I was and that I felt bad not to have had a chance to thank him in person any sooner.

He didn't answer. Instead he changed the subject and suggested we play a board game and chat a little longer.

I don't get why he was so annoyed, do you?

I would expect to be thanked. One time I was leaving the library and there was an older woman in the parking lot with a flat tire. It was raining out so I told her to wait inside the library and I would change the tire for her. I got pretty wet while I did this but after 15 or 20 minutes I got it done. She came out to see if I was done and I smiled and said irt was all set. Not only did she not thank me for doing this but as she drove away she went into a puddle and splashed me.

There’s nothing wrong w saying thank you. It’s spores acted, but for us as men it’s usually not necessary. Here’s why I say this. Growing up as a man a lot of times you’re never thanked for things or complimented on this, so we adapt to it. That’s why sometimes there’s may be an odd reaction or weird reaction when a man receives a thank you or a compliment, because most of us don’t ow how to respond to those things. It’s a foreign concept to most men. Yes yes I get there’s going to be women who respond no that’s not true I compliment my man all the time. Which I’m sure they do, but a majority of men don’t get that. The other thing as far as this man doing you a fan or, it probably wasn’t a big deal like it is for no man. So to him you’re making it into a bigger deal than it really was. If he likes you as more than friends chances are he was willing to do whatever even if it was hard or time consuming.

The other day my sister in law had kidney stones removed and I picked her up from the hospital. If course I was stuck there for two hours! She "thanked" me excessively! It was very annoying. It sounds like you only thanked him a couple times, once in person? That wouldn't annoy me at all. He probably wanted you to know that to him, it wasn't a big deal and he enjoys doing things for you and doesn't want you to feel you need to thank him.

Not even a little.. Men doing favors for pretty much anyone is thankless. So being thanked or even complimented would leave me happy for weeks.

He seemed annoyed. “Are you still talking about this?” Was one of the things he said. I ended up feeling uncomfortable the last time me a favor bc he did it and then also acted like a jerk after… perhaps so I wouldn’t thank him? I don't know, I couldn’t tell.

But obviously he was doing me a huge favor. Of course I'd thank him, no? I'd be super rude otherwise.

Nah, he volunteers for stuff all the time now, and I'll smile but he has trouble saying and receiving gratitude. I don't know why...

Sorry, I can't explain it. I like helping people and if a woman thanked me for helping her I would be glad that I was able to be there for her.

There may be something else about it that he doesn't want to recall, or he is modest. Either way, it can't hurt to ask him nicely in your genuinely kind way to discover and understand.
