It’s not as common a scenario as guys getting friend-zoned, but it happened to me. I had this friend in high school, she was the one who initiated everything, and we were getting along as friends. I liked her and I enjoyed the attention she gave me. Both I and everyone around us were sure she was into me. People kept telling me I should give her a chance, but I didn't find her physically attractive, so I just kept things platonic.


A year later, even though she didn’t have my number, she somehow found it and called me. Her mother even got involved, she told me, “She’s fallen into a depression, and since we know you're her friend, we wanted to reach out.” So I said okay and we started messaging and talking on the phone occasionally.


Eventually, she started getting really emotional, saying things like “I want to be by your side” or “I’ll take care of you if you get sick.” That’s when I realized we couldn’t just be friends. I figured that if I started a relationship without loving her and broke up with her later, it would hurt her even more—so I ghosted her. She sent me messages for a month or two, begging me to come back, but then she got used to it and moved on with her life.
